Death toll from torrential rains in India has risen to 14

The death toll from heavy rains in India's northeastern state of Assam has risen to 14.

As a result of the natural disaster, hundreds of houses were destroyed in the villages, trees fell and power lines were cut, SIA reports quoting AZERTAC. In total, more than 41,000 people were affected by the disaster.

Homeless residents are taken to nearby cities and housed in schools and government buildings.

Meteorologists forecast heavy rains and storms for the next five days.
