Russia's ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, has accused the US State Department of trying to intimidate its Latin American allies by refusing to join sanctions against Russia.
According to SIA, his words were broadcast on the Telegram channel of the Russian diplomatic mission.
Antonov commented on Deputy Secretary of State Brian Nichols' statements that Washington expects Latin America to comply with sanctions against Russia, its financial institutions and private companies with close ties to the government.
According to Antonov, the independent position of Latin American countries irritates the State Department.
The ambassador also noted that the White House is not concerned about the obvious damage to the economic development of the countries of the region, their food security and social stability.
