NATO ships are stationing in Baltic Sea

NATO says ships have entered the Baltic Sea for routine operations and exercises.

According to SIA, a written statement from NATO said that the ships "Permanent Naval Group 1" (SNMG1) and "Permanent NATO Mine Action Group 1" (SNMCMG1) sailed in the direction of the Baltic Sea.

The statement said that ships participating in exercises with border allies and partner countries in the Baltic Sea will be part of regular activities in the region to maintain a reliable and capable defense capability in accordance with NATO's contractual obligations.

It was stated that both groups consist of ships from different allied countries and are open to NATO's continued use to perform various functions, from training to operational missions.

The statement said the groups were part of a highly trained Joint Forces (VJTF), NATO's most highly trained military force.
