Although Western countries have "turned" Egypt against Russia over its military operations in Ukraine and demanded that it join the sanctions, Cairo has remained neutral and continues to cooperate with Moscow.
According to the Izvestia portal, this was stated by the chairman of the Russian-Egyptian Business Council Mikhail Orlov. SIA refers to the "Rambler".
According to the chairman of the council, the West is putting strong pressure on Egypt to join the anti-Russian position, but the government in Cairo is still neutral and is cooperating quietly with Moscow.
Orlov also noted that the only problem that Russia should pay attention to in the context of cooperation with Egypt is its strong economic dependence on Europe and the United States.
Suprisingly, the Russian official does not hide his fears that Egypt may lose the huge financial support it receives from the United States and the European Union.
At the same time, Orlov believes that Egypt has great potential as a fulcrum for Russian industry. Cooperation between Moscow and Cairo could allow it to produce or assemble local products for export to Russia, but ... under the flag of another country.
Of course, the Russians know better why that is.
Also worth mentioning, the Russian government portal has published a list of "unfriendly states" to the Russians. It includes about 50 countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States, 27 European Union countries, Ukraine, Japan and others.
