NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has said that the North Atlantic Alliance is preparing plans to deploy a full-scale permanent force near Russia that could "protect member states in the event of a military conflict."

According to the Secretary General, NATO is in the middle of a very fundamental transformation due to Russia's special military operation in Ukraine.
"... Now we have asked our military leaders to present the options we call NATO's long-term adaptation, reset. I think that the leaders of the alliance will decide on this issue when they meet for a summit in Madrid in June, "Stoltenberg said.
According to the Secretary General, today there are 40,000 NATO troops on NATO's eastern flank, ten times less than before Russia launched the special operation.
Russia's ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, recently said that NATO countries had begun military development in Ukraine, filling the country with Western weapons: "As a result of Kiev's "nationalist frenzy and revanchist mood" the "death" of the Minsk agreements has arrived and as for Ukraine they have chosen the path of rapid militarization."
