Biden has banned energy imports from Russia

On April 8, US President Joe Biden approved a bill in Congress banning Russia's energy imports amid the situation in Ukraine. The statement came from the White House.

According to a widespread statement by the US administration, this is a "law to suspend the import of Russian oil", which legally prohibits the supply of energy from Russia.

Biden also signed a bill on Friday suspending normal trade with Russia and Belarus, allowing the US administration to impose higher tariffs on Moscow and Minsk than other members of the World Trade Organization (WTO). This measure will be valid for about two years - until the beginning of 2024.

According to SIA, "RIA Novosti" reports that on April 7, both houses of the US Congress voted in favor of these initiatives.
