As part of Ramadan aid the Turkish Red Crescent Society has distributed food packages to 1,000 families in need in Yemen, who have been embroiled in a long-running civil war. SIA refers to the Turkish media.

Mohammad ed-Dakam, a society official in Yemen, said they had distributed 500 food parcels to needy and orphaned families in each of Hadramaut and Lahij provinces.

Dakam said 5,000 food parcels would be distributed to needy families, orphans and refugees in Yemen as part of Ramadan aid.

The aid will be distributed in Aden, Lahij, Ebyen, Hadramaut, Taiz and Dali, Dakam said, adding that relief efforts will continue throughout the month of Ramadan.

The Turkish Red Crescent Society provides food and clothing to those in need in various parts of Yemen, and hospitals with medicines and medical supplies.

Some 377,000 people have been killed in years of clashes between Iranian-backed Houthis and government forces in Yemen. In Yemen, one of the world's poorest countries, the humanitarian crisis exacerbated by the civil war has reached alarming proportions.
