Germany may close a number of power plants

Germany is expected to be forced to shut down some power plants if it immediately bans coal imports from Russia.

According to the document, the share of Russian coal in the total import of this type of fossil fuel in Germany will be reduced by half to 25 percent in the next few weeks due to the latest changes in the contracts, SIA reports.

In the fall, Germany will not import coal from Russia. However, it is noted that the immediate cessation of coal supplies from Russia will lead to a shortage in a few weeks.
