US, Kyiv discuss holding elections and referendum in Ukraine in May

Washington and Kyiv are discussing the possibility of holding general elections in Ukraine in May, as well as a referendum on potential conflict resolution agreements, SİA reports citing Reuters.

As the publication clarifies, "according to the plan being discussed by US and Ukrainian negotiators, any deal [regarding the settlement] will be put to a referendum." It is assumed that "general elections" will be held in Ukraine at the same time. According to the agency, during negotiations in Abu Dhabi, US Presidential Envoy Steven Witkoff and the American leader's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, told the Ukrainian side that "it would be best if the elections took place soon."
