US Supreme Court has blocked Trump from deploying National Guard troops to Chicago
The Supreme Court has denied permission for the Washington administration, led by President Donald Trump, to deploy the National Guard at this stage to quell unrest in Chicago, Illinois, according to a published ruling by the highest US court, SİA reports.
"At this initial stage [of the proceedings], the government has failed to identify a source of authority that would allow the military to enforce laws in Illinois," the document emphasizes. It notes that such steps by the Washington administration are only possible in exceptional circumstances. However, the decision is not final; the Supreme Court will continue to consider the matter.
