Kallas: Putin’s visit to Europe is unpleasant

The European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, has expressed disapproval of the planned meeting between U.S. and Russian leaders in Hungary, SİA reports citing Reuters.

Kallas told journalists that it is unpleasant to see the Russian president, who is under an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC), visit any European country.

“Regarding Budapest—no, this is not good. It is truly unpleasant to see someone under an ICC arrest warrant visiting a European country,” Kallas stated.

The EU official also emphasized that the United States has sufficient power to exert pressure on Russia and expressed confidence that such pressure could bring Russia to the negotiating table.
