Deadly quake devastates central Philippines, Cebu declares state of calamity

A powerful earthquake rocked the central Philippines late Tuesday, killing 69 people and injuring many more, SİA reports citing foreign media.

Cebu province, the hardest hit, declared a state of calamity after thousands were forced to sleep in the open as aftershocks rattled the region.

Residents reported widespread power and water outages. One survivor told the BBC the night was filled with the cries of frightened children, describing the community as “traumatized.” The disaster comes just days after back-to-back typhoons left more than twenty dead across the country.
