By hosting the 29th session of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP29), Azerbaijan has successfully introduced its region to the global stage, said COP29 President Mukhtar Babayev during Baku Climate Action Week, SİA informs.
Babayev noted that holding the Climate Action Week in Azerbaijan once again highlights the country's growing role in climate initiatives.
"When Azerbaijan was selected to host COP29, there were doubts internationally," he said. "But under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, we committed ourselves to this mission and worked hard to realize it. As a small but ambitious country, we have delivered results and introduced our region to the world."
He added that by taking on the responsibility of hosting COP29, Azerbaijan has proven its determination and capability to organize major global events.
