MI6 Chief: Russia suffers heavy losses as Ukraine defies Moscow

Russian troops are advancing at the front in Ukraine "at a turtle's pace and at the cost of terrible losses,” Britain’s MI6 chief, Richard Moore, said Thursday, SİA reports citing Sky News.

Speaking in Istanbul, Moore painted a picture of a frustrated Russian leadership. “Putin is seeks to impose his imperial will by all means at his disposal,” he said, “but he cannot succeed.” According to Moore, Russia simply does not have the wherewithal to fully subjugate Ukraine by force.

The MI6 chief underscored that the fundamental issue remains Ukraine’s sovereignty. “Putin denies Ukraine's sovereignty and its very existence as a country and a nation,” Moore added, framing the conflict as a struggle not just over territory, but over the very identity of the Ukrainian state.
