A rebel attack in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has resulted in the deaths of 80 civilians in the North Kivu Province, SİA reports citing foreign media.
Members of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebel group attacked villagers during a funeral ceremony in the Ntoyo village. In addition to the fatalities, many people were kidnapped by ADF members, who frequently abduct civilians to demand ransoms.
Last month, ADF attacks in North Kivu also resulted in the deaths of 52 civilians. The ADF was established in the late 1990s by former members of the National Army for the Liberation of Uganda (NALU), the Uganda Muslim Freedom Army, and the Tabligh Jamaat movement. Since 2014, ADF attacks have claimed thousands of civilian lives and displaced hundreds of thousands of people, leaving a devastating humanitarian impact in the region.
