Trump announces upcoming talks with European Leaders on Ukraine conflict
European leaders are expected to travel to the United States early next week to explore options for ending the conflict in Ukraine, U.S. President Donald Trump said, SİA reports citing foreign sources.
Trump also mentioned that he plans to speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin “soon” and suggested that his administration is prepared to implement a second round of sanctions against Moscow.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described the sanctions as “the right move” and called on European countries to stop purchasing Russian energy.
The announcement comes amid Russia’s heaviest aerial attack on Ukraine since the start of the war, which killed four people and struck Ukraine’s main government building in Kyiv for the first time. During the assault, Russia launched over 800 drones and more than a dozen missiles, prompting Trump to express his dissatisfaction with the situation.
“Some European leaders will be coming to the US on Monday or Tuesday individually,” Trump said, without specifying which leaders would attend.
The attacks by Russia have escalated following a recent summit between Trump and Putin in Alaska last month.
