At least 17 people lost their lives when Lisbon’s Gloria funicular derailed and collided with a building, authorities confirmed, while over 20 others sustained injuries, SİA reports.
Emergency teams quickly responded to the scene on Wednesday evening, rescuing passengers trapped in the wreckage.
Officials have yet to release the identities of the victims, but the head of Lisbon’s Civil Protection Agency indicated that the incident involved dozens of people from around ten different countries.
