An air operation targeting the Boko Haram terrorist organization resulted in the neutralization of 15 militants in Nigeria’s Borno State, said Ehimen Ejodame, spokesperson for the Nigerian Air Force, SİA reports.
The spokesperson said the operation was carried out in the Sambisa Forest, aimed at dismantling the group’s main structures.
Ejodame also noted that Boko Haram suffered significant losses during the operation. Active in Nigeria since the early 2000s, the group has carried out mass terror attacks since 2009, claiming tens of thousands of lives.
Since 2015, Boko Haram has also conducted attacks in neighboring Cameroon, Chad, and Niger, with assaults around the Lake Chad region resulting in at least 2,000 deaths. Terror attacks and ongoing clashes have displaced hundreds of thousands of people across the region.
