President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has completed his official visit to the People’s Republic of China, SİA reports citing the Kazimform News Agency.
On the final day of his trip, the Kazakh leader attended a military parade in Beijing and an official reception hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
As part of the visit, Beijing hosted the eighth session of the Kazakhstan-China Business Council on September second. The event saw participation from President Tokayev and Ding Xuexiang, First Vice Premier of the State Council of China and a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.
During his speech, Tokayev described China as a dependable neighbor, trusted ally, and long-term strategic partner of Kazakhstan.
He noted that Chinese investments in Kazakhstan have reached twenty-seven billion US dollars and highlighted plans to expand the China-Europe transit corridor running through Kazakhstan by up to five times its current capacity. The President also emphasized cooperation in the energy sector and presented new directions for economic diversification, including projects in renewable energy and digital technologies. He proposed joint efforts in organic agriculture and underlined Kazakhstan's interest in developing artificial intelligence partnerships with China. Strengthening financial ties between businesses in both countries was also a key point in his address.
Over 70 agreements worth more than $15 billion were signed during the business council meeting. Following the event, President Tokayev launched a wind turbine component manufacturing plant in Kazakhstan’s Zhambyl region via videoconference.
During his stay, Tokayev also held meetings with several influential Chinese business leaders, including Dai Houliang, Chairman of China National Petroleum Corporation; Jin Liqun, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB); Liang Hua, Chairman of the Board at Huawei Technologies; Ni Zhen, Director General of China Energy Engineering Group; and Shen Yanfeng, General Director of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC).
The Kazakh leader also took part in the inauguration of the Kazakh Cultural Center in Beijing.
On September 1, President Tokayev participated in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit and the SCO Plus session, held under the theme “Advancing Multilateralism, Securing Regional Stability, and Fostering Sustainable Growth.”
