A pilot was killed when a Cessna-172 training aircraft crashed into a cornfield in the Torbalı district of İzmir, located on the western coast of Türkiye, SİA report citing Daily Sabah.
The plane, which had departed from Selçuk Efes Airport for a training session with a student on board, went down in the Kırbaş area of Torbalı. The cause of the accident has not yet been identified.
After receiving alerts about the crash, emergency services, including medical and firefighting units, were quickly sent to the location. First responders confirmed the pilot died as a result of the crash.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine what led to the incident. Aviation experts are expected to assess the wreckage to uncover the factors behind the fatal crash of the single-engine aircraft.
