Russian President Vladimir Putin said that, in his opinion, Russia's war against Ukraine could have been avoided if Donald Trump had been the US president at the time, SİA informs.
He was speaking at a joint press conference with the American leader following the Russian-American summit held in Anchorage (Alaska).
Putin described the talks with Trump as respectful, constructive and useful. According to the Russian president, during the narrow-format meeting, which lasted almost three hours, the parties discussed a wide range of issues, including ways to resolve the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. During the press conference, Putin also announced that he was inviting Donald Trump to visit Moscow. Chuckling, he looked at Trump and said: "Next time in Moscow."
"Oh, that's an interesting one," Trump said. "I'll get a little heat on that one, but I – I could see it possibly happening."
The press conference officially ended after the leaders' meeting was summed up.
