Zelenskyy: Russia’s overnight attack aimed to overload Ukraine’s air defense

The Russian attack overnight Thursday was deliberately calculated to overload Ukraine’s air defense system, with Kyiv being the primary target, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said following a briefing from Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, SİA informs, citing Ukrainian media.

“The attack was specifically designed to overload the air defense system. Kyiv was the main target for Shaheds, other drones, and missiles, but there is also damage in other regions,” Zelenskyy wrote on social media.

The Ukrainian president noted that rescue operations are still ongoing.

Meanwhile, Kyiv’s military administration chief, Tymur Tkachenko, reported on social media that the death toll in Kyiv from Russia’s combined missile-drone strike has risen to eight.

The number of injured has reached about 82 people, including 10 children.
