Vage Hovhanissyan: Armenia evaluating economic scenarios amid Iran-Israel conflict
Armenia is considering various scenarios, including risky ones, for economic development in connection with the Iran-Israel conflict, Minister of Finance of Armenia Vahe Hovhannisyan said at a press conference, according to SİA.
"Regarding the escalation between Iran and Israel, certain processes may negatively affect us. But there are also factors that could positively impact us. Much depends on the degree of this escalation and its duration, different scenarios are possible," he said.
According to him, the Iran-Israel conflict could affect supplies, as part of Armenia's logistics is also connected with supplies from Iran, which may be disrupted, extended, become more expensive, etc.
"Of course, our partners in the Ministry of Economy are studying how the situation might affect logistics routes, not to mention more negative scenarios. For example, if the situation escalates to the point where international investors begin to consider investments in Armenia risky due to the conflict. This will also affect our interest rates. But, I repeat, we need to monitor the events," he stated.
The minister added that with a high risk to Armenia's economy, there is a scenario of economic growth slowing to 1.3%
