PACE to hold debate on situation in Georgia at its spring session

Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will hold a debate on the situation in Georgia during its spring session, SİA reports.

The debate will discuss future actions regarding the resolution on the ratification of the mandate of the Georgian delegation by PACE.

Recall that on January 29 of this year, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) adopted a resolution on demanding new elections in Georgia. PACE called on the Georgian authorities to immediately launch an inclusive process involving all interested parties and social actors, including the ruling majority, the opposition and civil society, to urgently address the shortcomings and violations observed during the parliamentary elections held last October, and to create the necessary conditions for holding new parliamentary elections in a democratic environment. Following the PACE resolution, the Georgian delegation suspended its activities in the Assembly.

Note that the spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will be held in Strasbourg from April 7 to 11.
