The Moldovan Foreign Ministry believes that Chisinau has not violated the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations by still not accepting the credentials of the Russian Ambassador who arrived in the Republic last fall,SİA informs referring to the press service of the Moldovan Foreign Ministry.
"The establishment of the date and procedure for organizing the ceremony of presenting accreditation letters is the exclusive prerogative of the host state in accordance with diplomatic customs and the agenda of the competent institutions. In this context, the Republic of Moldova rejects any insinuations regarding the violation of the Vienna Convention and confirms its commitment to comply with international norms in the field of diplomatic relations," reads the statement.
The day before, Moldovan Ambassador to Moscow Lilian Darii was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry, where he was surprised that the president of Moldova had still not accepted the credentials of Russian Ambassador Oleg Ozerov. The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that this is a violation of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
