The EU wants to appoint a special envoy to represent the bloc in Ukraine peace talks, Bloomberg said, citing people familiar with the matter, SİA informs via TASS.
EU leaders plan to discuss the appointment at an emergency summit in Brussels on March 6, according to the update.
Ukraine previously urged the EU to swiftly name a representative for the talks, Bloomberg noted.
European Council President Antonio Costa said that the emergency summit will focus on such issues as increasing defense spending by member countries, new commitments to supply arms to Ukraine and possible security guarantees for that country.
