Trump announces start of "reciprocal tariffs"

US President Donald Trump has announced that "reciprocal tariffs" will start being introduced on February 13, SİA informs referring to TASS.

"Three great weeks, perhaps the best ever, but today is the big one: reciprocal tariffs! Make America great again!" he wrote on his Truth Social page.

Earlier, Trump said that he planned to announce taking measures to make the level of tariffs in the US’ bilateral trade with other countries equal in the coming days.

On February 9, the US leader told reporters that Washington would stick to the reciprocity principle in trade with all countries.

On January 31, Trump said that the US intended to impose tariffs on supplies of semiconductors, oil, gas, steel, aluminum, and copper to the country. The US president did not specify which states might be affected.

Earlier this week, US President Donald Trump gave instructions to impose tariffs on all imports of steel and aluminum to the country in the amount of 25%.
