President Ilham Aliyev has signed an order on the allocation of funds to the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine, SİA reports.
The order states that the Republic of Azerbaijan, based on humanitarian principles, has provided aid to numerous countries on both bilateral and multilateral levels:
"In light of the recent situation in Ukraine, the Azerbaijani government has sent humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian people on several occasions.
Relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine are developing on the basis of friendship and partnership, as outlined in relevant bilateral agreements, including the March 16, 2000, 'Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation, and Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Ukraine,' the May 22, 2008, 'Declaration on Friendship and Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Ukraine,' and the January 14, 2022, 'Joint Declaration of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Ukraine.'"
According to the order, to provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine, funds equivalent to 1 million US dollars have been allocated from the Reserve Fund of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as stipulated in the 2025 state budget, to the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the purchase and delivery of electrical equipment produced in Azerbaijan.
The Ministry of Finance has been instructed to ensure the financing of the specified amount, while the Cabinet of Ministers has been tasked with addressing issues arising from this order.
