Text of Armenia's new constitution expected to be ready by 2026 elections

The text of Armenia's new constitution should be ready by the 2026 elections, the country's Minister of Justice Srbuhi Galyan stated during a press conference dedicated to the results of 2024, SİA informs via Armenian media.

Galyan stated that this was the priority task of the ministry.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, during his meeting with Justice Ministry employees on January 18, 2024, stated that the country needs a new constitution while maintaining the current parliamentary system of governance. He explained the necessity of this with the changes happening in the world, the region, and Armenia, and added that the country needs a constitution "that no one doubts."

Official Baku has declared that to sign a peace agreement, Armenia must make changes to its constitution to eliminate territorial claims against Azerbaijan.

On September 27, 2024, at the UN General Assembly session, Pashinyan spoke about the possibility of changing Armenia's Constitution to sign a peace agreement with Azerbaijan.
