US President-elect Donald Trump suggested that Canada and Mexico become US states.
"We're subsidizing Canada to the tune of over $100 billion a year. We're subsidizing Mexico for almost $300 billion," he said in an interview with NBC. "Why are we subsidizing these countries? If we're going to subsidize them, let them become a state."
On November 25 Trump threatened to impose a 25% tax on imports from Canada and Mexico over flows of illegal immigrants and drugs.
