Some attendees of COP29, set to take place in Azerbaijan next month, may not be required to pay a deposit for their accommodation.
This provision is included in the draft law on the ratification of the "Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Kyoto Protocol, and the Paris Agreement on the Twenty-Ninth Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the 19th Session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol, the 6th Session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement and the Sessions of the Subsidiary Bodies", which is on the agenda of the plenary session of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament) to be held on October 8.
Thus, the Azerbaijani government will ensure that participants have access to adequate and conveniently located accommodation, including hotels and residential areas, at reasonable commercial prices.
To facilitate participation from developing countries, accommodation prices will be kept within normal market conditions. Additionally, attendees from these countries can request to stay without paying the advance deposit within a reasonable timeframe.
The international event will take place from November 11-22 at the Baku Olympic Stadium.
