"I don't want COP29 to be perceived as just an event from November 11 to 22, because this is a major negotiation process," President of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), Azerbaijan's Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev said on the "Target" program on the AzTV channel, Report informs.
"We hope that the conditions we have created for the participating countries will be a good impetus for a positive outcome of the negotiations. Financing has always been a difficult issue to discuss. The parties assess this year as the most critical one. A major preparatory process is underway to achieve consensus by the parties. Therefore, I would like this conference not to be perceived as just an event that will be held from November 11 to 22... This is a major negotiation process," he noted.
Babayev clarified that a large platform for the participation of all countries, international organizations and financial institutions, as well as various civil societies, etc. will be created in Azerbaijan as part of COP29.
