Over 100 dead in Bangladesh riots as unrest escalates

The death toll from the ongoing riots in Bangladesh has risen to a staggering 109, according to SİA, which cites France Presse.

Yesterday, eight people were burned alive, and another 84 suffered burns and injuries when an enraged mob set fire to the Jabir Hotel in the western city of Jessore. This shocking event highlights the severity of the crisis gripping the country.

The protests and demonstrations erupted nationwide following the announcement of a multi-day "non-cooperation action" against the authorities, initiated by the "Student Movement Against Discrimination" on Sunday. Clashes between anti-government students, police, and government supporters quickly spiraled into widespread disorder.

Amidst the chaos, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has resigned from her position and fled to India. She has reportedly sought asylum in the United Kingdom.
