Pentagon Announces Withdrawal of 300 Troops from Niger by September 15

The U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) has announced that approximately 300 soldiers stationed in Niger will be leaving the country by September 15.

Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh addressed reporters during a briefing, SIA reports with reference to foreign media.

Evaluating the situation of U.S. troops in Niger, Singh noted that military personnel had departed from the 101st Air Base in Niamey on July 7. She emphasized that the remaining soldiers would exit the country safely and in an orderly manner by September 15.

On March 17, Niger announced the cancellation of a military cooperation agreement signed with the U.S. 12 years ago, demanding the withdrawal of American troops. It has been reported that nearly 1,000 U.S. soldiers, along with an unmanned aerial vehicle base in Agadez, will also leave the country by mid-September.
