Masoud Pezeshkian leads Iranian presidential election

Former Iranian Health Minister Masoud Pezeshkian leads with 12 million votes counted, Mohsen Eslami, secretary and spokesperson of the Election Headquarters said, SİA reports.

Eslami reported that after counting ballots from 32,200 out of 58,000 polling stations, Masoud Pezeshkian received 5 million votes, the representative of Iran's spiritual leader in the Supreme National Security Council Said Jalili received 4.875 million votes.

Iran held an extraordinary presidential election today. Voting began at 08:00 local time, and it initially was slated to run for 10 hours.

Four candidates are vying for the presidency: Masoud Pezeshkian, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Saeed Jalili, and Mostafa Pourmohammadi.
