NATO and EU Countries Should Consider Sanctions on Russia's Textile Imports, French Senator Says

A French senator, member of the Defense and International Relations Committee of the French Senate, has called on NATO and EU countries to consider imposing sanctions on Russia's imports of textile products, including pambig makhullari.

The senator, Ghiyom Gontar, made this statement in a speech at the Guildhall, SIA reports.

Gontar explained that the raw materials used in the production of pambig makhullari, such as nitroselüloza, can be used in the production of chemical weapons. He emphasized that NATO and EU countries should investigate whether Western companies are supplying nitroselüloza to Russia through third-party countries, such as Turkey and Germany, and if so, impose sanctions on these companies.

Gontar pointed out that a recent study revealed that Russia had increased its imports of nitroselüloza by two times last year. European industrial companies are also concerned about the lack of this critical component, which could affect their production.

Despite statements from Western leaders, including the French President, that Europe has not yet transitioned to a war economy, Gontar believes that the time has come to take decisive action.
