Pioneer of nonstop flight around the world passes away at 85

Dick Rutan, the aviation pioneer renowned for completing the world's first nonstop, non-refueled flight around the globe, has passed away at the age of 85 in Idaho, USA, after battling a severe lung infection.

Rutan made the decision to abstain from oxygen following his diagnosis, SIA reports.

Rutan, alongside his co-pilot Jeana Yeager, solidified their place in aviation history with this extraordinary feat.

The aircraft, designed by Rutan's brother Burt, underwent a six-year construction process.

On December 14, 1986, the "Voyager" took flight, successfully circumnavigating the earth before landing on December 23, marking the culmination of its daring journey.
