Turkish President declares halt in trade and economic relations with Israel

Turkish President Erdogan has halted trade and economic relations with Israel over Gaza policy.

The head of state of Turkiye made this declaration during his address to supporters on the X social network of the ruling Justice and Development Party, SIA reports.

Erdogan's remarks attribute responsibility to the Israeli Defense Forces for the deaths of 40-45 Palestinians.

Previously, trade between Turkiye and Israel amounted to nearly $9.5 billion.

The president recalled that prior to the crisis, he had met twice with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the United States to discuss bilateral relations and collaborate for stability in the Middle East.

However, the Israeli government purportedly did not heed the Turkish leader. Erdogan, on the other hand, has been vocal in asserting that "the entire West, especially the United States, is working for Israel's interests."
