Deadly fire erupts in Istanbul nightclub during renovation work

Tragedy struck in Istanbul as a fire engulfed the Masquerade nightclub, located in the basement of a high-rise building, resulting in the loss of at least 29 lives and injuring one individual.

The incident occurred during daylight hours while the nightclub was closed for renovations. Istanbul Governor Davut Gül reported that the fire erupted shortly after midday, leaving the cause of the blaze still undetermined.

Authorities believe that the victims were predominantly individuals involved in the renovation activities at the club.

As investigations into the fire continue, warrants have been issued for several individuals, including the nightclub manager and a person responsible for the renovations. Three suspects have been apprehended, while authorities are still seeking two others to assist in the inquiry.
