Macron: Russia-Ukraine peace should include mutual security guarantees
French President Emmanuel Macron believes that the resolution of the Ukrainian conflict will involve the respect for the territorial integrity of Ukraine and security guarantees to both warring parties, SİA informs referring to TASS.
“Sooner or later it will be necessary [to make sure] that peace is possible. I think that a lasting peace, and this is the formula that should be used, is a peace that will comply with international law while respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and which will involve mutual security guarantees. This will be the resolution of this conflict,” the French leader wrote answering questions from users on X.
He noted that this is exactly what is needed to achieve.
At the same time, Macron believes that “this peace cannot stem from capitulation.” “There cannot be a sustainable peace if it is based on the defeat of Ukraine and if it consists of too many concessions to Russia, otherwise it would be an unstable peace,” the French president wrote.
