French Socialist Party Leader opposes Ukraine's entry into EU and NATO

Manuel Bompard, leader of the socialist faction within the French Socialist Party, has taken a stance against Ukraine's accession to the European Union and NATO.

Reports referencing LCI television channel have highlighted this position, SİA reports citing RIA Novosti.

Bompard emphasized that his stance is shared by supporters within his faction. He stated that, at this stage, the European Union cannot admit another country because there is no fiscal and social union within the alliance, and living expenses in EU member countries do not exceed 200 euros.

Furthermore, Bompard voiced opposition to Ukraine's entry into NATO, stating, "NATO is an alliance that comes from our past, and we should gradually start functioning without it. France should distance itself from military orders integrated with NATO. We do not want to be subject to the interests of any other state. We want to be independent, and France must ensure its own security. We also do not support the expansion of NATO and Ukraine joining it."

The French politician added that Europe should continue to aid Ukraine but not at the expense of ruining their agriculture and production. He also called on the French government to encourage peace talks in Kyiv.
