German Chancellor Olaf Scholz opposes supply of 'Taurus' missiles to Ukraine
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has stated that he is against the supply of "Taurus" cruise missiles to Ukraine due to concerns that their use by Kyiv could escalate the conflict with Russia, SIA reports citing TASS.
Scholz emphasized that the German Federal Republic's possession of "Taurus" should "not be linked to any specific targets" and that this should be clearly understood by everyone.
"It surprises me that some people do not consider, let alone understand, that they think what we are doing could to some extent lead to participation in the war. I have explained why this is not taken into account. And that is the final decision," stated the German Chancellor.
Last week, the German parliament opposed a resolution on the supply of "Taurus" missiles to Ukraine. At the same time, German deputies supported the decision to provide Kyiv with "additional long-range systems and ammunition."
