Iran has seized a Marshall Islands-flagged oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman, SIA refers to the state media reports.
Masked and armed individuals have boarded the St Nikolas vessel near the Omani port of Sohar and have directed it to sail to an Iranian port.
The reason for targeting the tanker remains unclear.
The St Nikolas, which was traveling from Basra, Iraq to Turkey, was intercepted during its transit.
On Thursday, UK Maritime Trade Operations received a report that four to five unauthorised persons, dressed in military-style black uniforms and wearing black masks, had boarded the ship at 03:30 GMT.
Communication with the vessel has been lost and authorities are conducting an investigation.
