The number of casualties from the mining accident in the Karaganda province of Kazakhstan has reached 16, ArcelorMittal Temirtau Company announced, SİA reports.
The exact number of injured individuals is being determined.
Preliminary indications suggest that the accident was caused by a methane gas explosion.
"ArcelorMittal Temirtau" company reports that there were 252 people in the mine at the time of the accident, of which 205 have been brought to the surface. Rescuers are working at the scene.
