US State Department Senior Advisor for Caucasus Negotiations Louis Bono is making a regional trip, SİA informs referring to the US Embassy in Azerbaijan.

The trip program includes a visit to Yerevan and Baku to support the parties in achieving a durable peace.

On September 14, Bono was in Armenia, where he met with Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan.

Earlier, Acting Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs of the US State Department Yuri Kim noted that Red Cross columns have been standing at the beginning of the Lachin and Aghdam roads for weeks. One of Bono’s tasks is to ensure the simultaneous delivery of goods to Karabakh along these roads.

As noted by Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, Hikmet Hajiyev, in a telephone conversation between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on September 1, it was agreed that the speedy and simultaneous opening of the Aghdam-Khankendi and Lachin-Khankendi roads for trucks escorted by the ICRC would be ensured. However, as the presidential aide noted, the illegal regime subordinate to Armenia refuses to open the roads.
