Finland will not implement EC’s entry ban of Russian cars

Finland did not implement the recommendation of the European Commission (EC), which prohibits entry into the territory of European countries in cars registered in Russia.

SIA refers to Finnish broadcaster Yle's report on Tuesday.

At the end of last week, the EC confirmed that, according to the prepared recommendation, it is forbidden to enter the EU countries in cars registered in Russia and carry cosmetics, suitcases, mobile phones, laptops, leather and fur products, as well as personal hygiene products.

On Monday, the representative of the European Commission, Balazs Ujvari, said that EU member countries have the right not to confiscate the personal belongings of Russians, including prohibited clothing, when they enter the territory of the union.

“Cars with Russian license plates can still enter Finland. If another decision is made, we will announce it in advance,” said Pia Sarivaara, head of the sanctions department of the Finnish Foreign Ministry, as quoted by RIA Novosti.
