Turkiye expresses condolences to South Africa for victims of building fire in Johannesburg

Turkiye has extended its sincere condolences to South Africa for the victims of the building fire in Johannesburg city that resulted in dozens of victims, a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Friday.

"We are saddened by the news of the death and injuries of many people as a result of a fire that broke out in a residential building in Johannesburg, South Africa yesterday. We offer our condolences to the people and government of South Africa, to the families of those who lost their lives as a result of the tragic incident, and we wish the injured a speedy recovery," the statement reads.

Citing foreign sources, SIA reminds that at least 74 people died and more than 250 were injured in the fire that broke out in the Marshalltown district of Johannesburg yesterday morning.
