Prosecutors in southern Mexico said Tuesday that at least six men were killed in an apparent ambush in a township near the Guatemalan border that is known as a migrant smuggling route, SIA reports with reference to foreign media.
The Chiapas Attorney General’s Office said it was investigating the case and confirmed the number of victims, but did not provide details on their identities, nationalitiesnor if they were residents, migrants or suspected criminals.
The attack took place on a dirt road between the municipalities of Siltepec and Chicomuselo when the victims were traveling in a van.
