In Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District, a hunter accidentally shot a 15-year-old boy. The injured student was taken to the hospital.
According to the press service of the District Prosecutor's Office, a criminal case has been opened against the person who fired the shot on the charge of serious injury to health, SIA reports.
This all happened in the North Sosva River, near the village of Kimkyasui, according to Russian media.
During the hunt, a local resident saw geese swimming near the shore, mistook the 15-year-old for the birds and shot him instead.
Inspections have been started in the district prosecutor's office regarding the case.
The implementation of the legislation in the field of prevention of neglect of minors and violations of rights, organization of summer vacation will be evaluated during the inspection.
Earlier, another hunter mistook a hunter for a bear and shot his fellow hunter in Magadan province.
