Russian Lawmaker slams Barbie movie for 'bringing theme of LGBT to Russia'
Maria Butina, a member of the State Duma's Committee on International Affairs of Russia, spoke harshly about the world-famous doll against the backdrop of the screening of the movie "Barbie" starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.
According to the deputy, Barbie toys should be removed from the Russian market, because they "bring the LGBT theme to Russia".
Butina said this in the new edition of the "Between the Lines" project, SIA reports with reference to Russian media.
"What do we see in the movie "Barbie": gays, transvestites, women who have taken over the world. There can be no talk of any kind of union between a man and a woman here," said the deputy lady.
Talking about the products of the Mattel company together with "Barbie" movie, Butina also spoke as a supporter of its removal from the country altogether.
In 2022, the famous manufacturer of Barbie dolls, Mattel, started to produce a gender-changing Barbie.
